An Introduction to the Key Instruction in Surgical Skills Course for Foundation Year 1 & 2
This is an essential one-day course for Foundation Year Doctors focuses on key surgical skills including knot tying and suturing. It also includes a demonstration and practice experience of surgical scrub technique and the donning of a surgical gown and gloves. Students also gain access to theoretical sessions on-line – available prior to and after the course.

- Discussion re: Theatre Etiquette
- Demonstration and of surgical scrub technique, surgical gowning & gloving (including practice donning of surgical gown & gloves)
- Handling Instruments
- Knot tying
Surgical, Surgeons , Instrument knots
- Wound Closure techniques
Simple interrupted, Vertical mattress suturing, Drain fixation
Insertion of surgical skin stapling & the application of surgical glue
- Minor surgical lesions
