One-day study day in Minimal Access Surgery - with an option to commence a 12 week competency based MAS course

This one-day theoretical and practically led course is targeted at all theatre personnel, Advanced Scrub Practitioners and Trainee Surgical Care Practitioners with limited knowledge or experience of Minimal Access (Laparoscopic & thoracic) procedures undertaken within General Surgery, with an overview of Gynaecology, Thoracic, Bariatric, Renal and Uroglocial surgery. Topics to be discussed include Anaesthetics in Minimal Access Surgery, related anatomy, instrumentation and procedures.

 

The One day study day aims to provide:
Candidates are able to undertake a one day theoretical and practically led study day in Minimal access surgery as a stand alone study day as detailed above.


Twelve Week Competency Based MAS courses aims to provide:
or commence a 12 week programme with the one day face to face study day following by a supporting on-line programme which offers the opportunity to submit a completed portfolio of evidence developed during the 12 week course. Successful candidates will be provided with written feedback and a certificate of competence.

 

The aim of the on-line competency based course is to:

  • Provide theoretical support to the competency-based training undertaken in the practitioners own workplace.
  • Provide a structured approach to the development of knowledge and skills that will enable practitioners to care effectively and safely for patients throughout the patients’ journey within the operating theatre.
  • Enable critical examination of the delivery of evidence-based care for the patient undergoing care within the operating theatre environment.
  • Promote the development of a critical understanding of the professional, ethical and legal implications of working in the operating theatre environment.

The course fees

  • One day stand alone study day on MAS All theatre practitioners ASP’s and trainee SCP’s £170.00
  • One day study day and 12 week competency based programme in MAS All theatre practitioners £350.00
  • One day study day and 12 week competency based programme in MAS Advanced scrub Practitioners, Trainee and qualified Surgical Care Practitioners extending their skills in MAS £420.00


All Fees include:
One full day tutition including hands on practice , Course handbook , Lunch and refreshments thorught out the day
