Overview of the course:

This is an essential study day for healthcare practitioners who need the theoretical and practice experience of both male and female catheterisation.

 

The aim of the course is to:

  • Provide theoretical support to the practical training  to facilitate further practical experience undertaken in the practitioners own workplace.
  • Provide a structured approach to the development of knowledge and skills that will enable practitioners to care effectively and safely for patients undergoing urinary catheterisation.
  • Enable critical examination of the delivery of evidence-based care for the patient undergoing urinary catheterisation
  • Promote the development of a critical understanding of the professional, ethical and legal implications of undertaking urinary catheterisation

 

The course will include:

  • Documentation & record keeping

  • The theory of safe urinary catheterisation
  • A & P urinary system
  • Urethral catheterisation - theory & practice
  • Teaching intermittent self catheterisation
  • ANNT - (Aseptic Non-touch technique) in Urinary Catheterisation

  • Practice - both male and female catheterisation
  • Care of the catheterised patient
  • Supra-pubic catheterisation - theory & practice

 

There are only 15 places available on each course and these places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

 

The course fee is £120.00

The course fee will include the study day, course materials, certificate of attendance, lunch and refreshments.
