An Introduction to Urinary Catheterisation Course for Healthcare Professionals study day

Overview of the course:

This is an essential study day for healthcare practitioners who need the theoretical and practice experience of both male and female catheterisation.

 

The aim of the course is to:

• Provide theoretical support to the practical training  to facilitate further practical experience undertaken in the practitioners own workplace.
• Provide a structured approach to the development of knowledge and skills that will enable practitioners to care effectively and safely for patients undergoing urinary catheterisation.
• Enable critical examination of the delivery of evidence-based care for the patient undergoing urinary catheterisation
• Promote the development of a critical understanding of the professional, ethical and legal implications of undertaking urinary catheterisation

 

The course will include:

Documentation & record keeping The theory of safe urinary catheterisation A & P urinary system Urethral catheterisation - theory & practice Teaching intermittent self catheterisation

ANNT - (Aseptic Non-touch technique) in Urinary Catheterisation Practice - both male and female catheterisation Care of the catheterised patient Supra-pubic catheterisation - theory & practice
