Overview of the course:
This eighteen week on line competency based Acute Surgical Wound Management Course aims to support staff to develop a portfolio of evidence in Acute Surgical Wound Management. This theoretical and practically led course is targeted at all registered personnel, with limited knowledge or experience of Acute Surgical Wound Management. Topics to be discussed include Wound healing, surgical dressings and surgical debridement. Following submission of a portfolio of evidence developed during the 18 week course, successful candidates will be provided with written feedback and a certificate of competence.
The aim of the on-line competency based course is to:
- Provide theoretical support to the competency-based training undertaken in the practitioners own workplace.
- Provide a structured approach to the development of knowledge and skills that will enable practitioners to care effectively and
safely for patients with acute surgical wounds.
- Enable critical examination of the delivery of evidence-based care for the patient with an acute surgical wound.
- Promote the development of a critical understanding of the professional, ethical and legal implications of managing acute
surgical wounds.
